Professional Background
Mr. Hodgins is a partner at Singleton Urquhart. He is Co-Chair of the construction law practice group and a member of the insurance law and ICBC defence practice groups in the firm.
Mr. Hodgins attended the University of Western Ontario and obtained an undergraduate degree in history (honours). He then made the trek to the West Coast to study law at the University of British Columbia, from which he graduated in 1993.
Mr. Hodgins joined Singleton Urquhart in 1995, and his areas of practice include construction, professional liability, insurance defence, and bodily injury defence. He has represented a diverse range of clients in professional liability matters, including architects, engineers, accountants and directors and officers. In the construction field, he has handled a variety of claims including builders liens, contract problems and other complex construction disputes. In addition to defending bodily injury claims on behalf of ICBC, he has also defended fraud and bad faith claims on behalf of insurers.
Mr. Hodgins has appeared as counsel in both the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal of British Columbia, and has represented clients at mediations, arbitrations and other forms of dispute resolution.
When not practicing law, Mr. Hodgins enjoys life with his wife and two young sons on the North Shore, and pursues one of his many athletic passions whenever possible.
