Professional Background
From the inception of his practice, Scott has worked in the defense of insured liability claims, the defense of first party claims against insurers and as coverage counsel for both insurers and insureds. As defense counsel he has acted to defend claims under the direction of homeowners, CGL, E&O and D&O insurers in a variety of matters. His experience as defense counsel extends to construction disputes, claims of professional negligence against a variety of professionals, including insurance brokers and those involved in the construction industry, wrongful dismissal claims, oppression actions and other commercial matters.
As coverage counsel, Scott has brought and defended coverage actions concerning many forms of insurance, including CGL, E&O and D&O policies.

Since being called to the Manitoba and British Columbia
Bars in 1998 and 2000, Scott has represented clients in a
wide variety of matters including:
- Defense of insurance brokers
- Defense of design professionals and contractors in
construction-related liability claims
- Defense of personal injury and property damage
claims on behalf of liability insurers
- Providing opinions on coverage and advancing
subrogation recovery claims on behalf of insurers
- Advancing and defending corporate commercial
disputes
Scott has appeared as counsel in all levels of the British
Columbia courts and encourages his clients to engage in
mediation and other forms of alternate dispute
resolution.
