In June, John Singleton Q.C. spoke on the topic of “Red Lights for Green Buildings” at the Sustainabuild Conference in Calgary.
This year marked the 10th Annual CBA Battle of the Bar Bands. SU's Roger Holland and Ian Jones with their band Standard of Hair placed first out of the seven bands that participated. The event, founded by our own Derek Brindle Q.C. , was co-chaired by Derek and Roger with assistance from Ian as the technical coordinator. A total of $116,000 was raised for the CBA Benevolent Society this year, bringing the total for the past decade to over $700,000.
On July 16, paralegal Marni Hambleton raced in the Kelowna Gran Fondo and had the best women’s time. Marni has won several provincial bicycle road racing championships while competing in races around B.C. and Washington State.
Singleton Urquhart has been active in the local community supporting the SNC Lavalin and Canadian Insurance Claims Manager Association Golf Tournaments as hole sponsors and the Travel Underwriters’ Golf Tournament as tee gift sponsors.
On a rainy June weekend, lawyers Mark Thompson, Mike Hewitt, Carmen Hamilton and Alana Dale-Johnson braved the downpours along with the firm’s marketing manager, Rebecca Cheung, and legal assistant, Maggie Barnetson, as they all participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer cycling event from Vancouver to Seattle.
