Workplace Law
Members of our group are skilled in all aspects of workplace law, including the drafting of employment and collective agreements and advising on a wide range of common law, administrative and statutory issues which impact the workplace from both the employer and employee perspectives. Members of the Group have represented clients at all levels of court, numerous tribunals and in a variety of different settings, including mediations and arbitration.
Our Group has learned through experience that workplace disputes can have profound personal and financial impact on all involved, including loss of valued personnel; economic impact on business; creating poisoned work environments and the potential for detrimental impact on business reputation.
Our Group members stress the need for a preventative approach, including strongly drafted agreements,workplace training and effective policies and use of mediation and alternate dispute resolution techniques.
Members of the Workplace Law Group have represented clients at all levels of court in British Columbia and in mediations and arbitrations.
We have extensive experience in all aspects of workplace-related claims including:
- Advising government, industry and individuals on employment, human rights, workers’ compensation, occupational health and safety, and employment standards issues;
- Preparing employment and independent contractor agreements;
- Advising on preparation of workplace manuals addressing issues such as harassment, privacy, confidentiality and restrictive covenants;
- Conducting and participating in mediations and arbitration -- members of our Group are chartered mediators and chartered arbitrators.
