Professional Background
Mary Ellen Boyd practiced civil litigation in a Vancouver-based law firm for over 10 years (1975 - 1985) before being appointed to the County Court of British Columbia in December 1985. Following the merger of the Superior Courts in July 1990, she presided as a justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia until her retirement on May 31, 2012.
During her long judicial career she dealt with a full spectrum of civil litigation matters including personal injury, medical malpractice, division of family property, wills variation, construction claims, insurance coverage, wrongful dismissal and other commercial disputes. She looks forward to assisting in the resolution of disputes, both as an arbitrator and mediator.
