Matthew Plummer graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law in 2011. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Plummer attended the University of British Columbia where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Mr. Plummer has a keen interest in litigation, and has honed his skills through advocacy and mooting programs in law school. While at UVic, Mr. Plummer volunteered with the Environmental Law Centre and co-authored a book titled Environmental Laws: A Field Guide for BC's North and Central Coast and Haida Gwaii. The book was first used in the summer of 2011 and is intended to increase communications between First Nations, Conservation Officers, and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in order to reduce illegal wildlife poaching on the B.C. coast. Mr. Plummer was also actively involved in the Sports and Entertainment Law Club.
In between completing his undergraduate studies and attending law school Mr. Plummer worked for a travel company specializing in tailoring unique custom built vacations for a high end clientele. Mr. Plummer relocated to Sydney, Australia for two years and established an Australian and New Zealand branch of the company.
Mr. Plummer first joined Singleton Urquhart as a summer student in 2010, and began his articles with the firm in 2011.
