Professional Background

Mitch Dermer received a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in 2002, double-majoring in history and English literature. After three years working in commercial book publishing, Mr. Dermer enrolled at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Law, finishing with a semester abroad in Paris, France at Sciences Po University. He received his law degree in 2009, and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2010.

 

Mr. Dermer has represented clients in British Columbia’s Supreme Court and Provincial Court. He also worked in the past as counsel for legal aid clients through the University of British Columbia’s Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, and remains active in the program as a Supervising Lawyer. Mr. Dermer represented the University of British Columbia in the Matthew Begbie Competitive Moot, and is also a former winner of the Robert H. Guile QC Memorial Debate.

Mr. Dermer has a general business law and civil litigation practice.
