Professional Background
Before emigrating to Canada in 1972, Ms. Jamal was a senior secretary in the administration section of the United Nations Development Program in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. She began her career in law as a legal secretary to a senior partner in Vancouver who specialized in civil litigation and family law. Subsequently, in the same law firm, she became the first legal assistant to a litigation department of 12 to 15 lawyers.
In 1990, Ms. Jamal joined Singleton Urquhart as a legal assistant providing support on construction litigation, professional negligence cases, and in all areas of civil litigation including Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada work.
