Professional Background
Mr. Sun obtained his BSc with a minor in Economics in 2002 at the University of British Columbia. He enrolled at the UBC Law School where he received the Law Foundation Entrance Scholarship and completed a term in New Zealand before obtaining his LLB in 2005.
While studying law, Mr. Sun pursued his keen interest in dispute resolution. He volunteered with the Law Students Legal Advice Program and was employed by the UBC Dispute Resolution Program where he researched intercultural conflict and NAFTA disputes. He was awarded for his oral advocacy while competing in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria and the annual UBC Mediation Moot Competition. Mr. Sun was also awarded the Boyd Ferris Memorial Prize in Advocacy in 2004.
Since joining Singleton Urquhart in 2005 as an articling student, Mr. Sun has appeared in Provincial Court, B.C. Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. Mr. Sun has a civil litigation practice with emphasis on commercial litigation, professional liability, construction and insurance defence. He has published articles on various insurance law topics, as well as on the liability of architects/engineers.
