Partners Bruce Reynolds, Sharon Vogel and Senior Associate James Little received the Award of Excellence in recognition of their Contributions to Construction Law Reforms from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors “RICS” and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators “CIArb.” The award honours teams who have made a significant impact on the creation of important construction industry-related policy.
Bruce was Counsel, Sharon acted as Co-Counsel, and James was Secretary for the Ontario Government in conducting a review of Ontario’s Construction Lien Act, and then worked closely with the Ministry of the Attorney General as it drafted Bill 142. Bill 142, “An Act to Amend the Construction Lien Act”, was unanimously passed in the Ontario Legislative Assembly in December 2017. In addition, Singleton Reynolds is acting as Counsel to the Government of Canada (Public Services and Procurement Canada), has conducted an expert review and delivered a report, and recommendations regarding promptness of payment and adjudication in relation to federal construction projects. Their report was delivered in June 2018 to PSPC, and federal legislation has now been introduced to adopt prompt payment and adjudication at the federal level.
“We are proud of this team’s ability to simultaneously create new construction policy while working on the country’s most important construction and infrastructure projects,” said John Singleton, Managing Partner.
Please join us in congratulating Bruce, Sharon and James on this tremendous achievement.
