Professional Background

Tim Sportschuetz is an Associate in our Construction and Infrastructure Group. His practice focuses on construction law and builders liens, and he has acted for owners, developers, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers during various stages of project development and execution.

He drafts and advises on the negotiation of construction contracts, including Canadian Construction Documents Committee (“CCDC”) and Canadian Construction Association (“CCA”) standard form contracts and supplementary conditions.

Tim acts for various construction industry participants during negotiation, mediation and litigation, and he advises on strategic dispute management prior to the commencement of costly legal proceedings. Tim has appeared before the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia.

Prior to his legal career, Tim was the Chief Operating Officer of a contractor specializing in earthworks and civil infrastructure, overseeing projects that involved the removal and replacement of municipal and private sanitary, water, and storm systems. His on-site experience provides him with an understanding of the operational and financial aspects of heavy equipment and construction projects, ranging from procurement and costing matters, to out-of-scope work, as well as payment bond, performance bond, and lien bond matters.

Tim also consulted for a leading British Columbia rock and slope stabilization and directional drilling contractor.
